What does this mean actually, are we acknowledging our passed Presidents or our present President, what is the celebration for................by no way Am I trying to disrespect anyone on this holiday observation....Please give your thoughts & help me understand what's the cause...?

To me the cause is strictly commercial as all holidays are, but now with a African American president we are in the books. Presidents Day should be a day of  acknowledging the past but all I see are sales....
